The AAG (Association of American Geographers) is a scholarly, non-profit organization that advances professional studies in geography and encourages the application of geographic research in education, government and business. It provides a forum for discussion among its members and with scholars in related fields ( such as GIS), supports the publication of related scholarly studies, and performs services to assist the advancement of its members as well as the field of geography. AAG has 7,000 members from more than 50 countries, and supports the annual GIS/LIS conference, whose proceedings are contained herein. ACSM (American Congress on Surveying and Mapping is a non-profit association dedicated to serving the public interest and advancing the surveying and mapping professions. It provides a forum for professionals in the surveying and mapping fields for keeping up-to-date on the latest and most crucial issues facing their profession.                            GITA (Geospatial Information and Technology Association, formerly AM/FM International) is a non-profit educational association in North America which focuses on Automated Mapping and Facilities Management (AM/FM) and Geographic Information Systems technologies. Applications range from day-to-day operational challenges to long-range strategic planning objectives of utilities, government agencies and other organizations concerned with land records and facilities management. AM/FM International provides a forum for discussing processes, problems and solutions to accessing and managing mapping and facilities database information. The annual conferences usually feature more than 100 speakers presenting conference papers on both introductory and advanced topics, reanging from database design, to determining conversion costs, to systems integration.
