Subject Searching Most databases provide a list of approved subject headings, sometimes called a thesaurus. This is another way to find subject headings or descriptors for your topic.
			A subject search for "Native Americans" in the library catalog would direct you to the approved heading "Indians of North America." The thesaurus for PsycINFO would show you that "American Indians" is the preferred descriptor in that database.
