PIVOT is an integrated resource combining a database of funding opportunities with researcher profiles. It can be used to facilitate research endeavors, collaborative activities, travel, curriculum development, conferences, fellowships, post-doctoral positions, equipment acquisition, and operating or capital expenses, among others. Sources of information include federal and regional governments, foundations, professional societies, associations, and corporations. Scientist and scholar profiles in COS Pivot include contact information, links, positions held, publications, patents, funding received, and a first-person narrative describing current research activities and expertise.

University of Maine users should register for an account using a maine.edu email address, then claim and edit their own profile. Users should consult the Office of Research Administration when seeking and managing research grants, contracts, and other extramural funding. Fogler Library at the University of Maine is the repository for an NRC technical report collection on microfiche, numbering nearly one hundred thousand documents. The fiche are housed in the Library Annex, with 24-hour advance notice required for staff retrieval. Fogler Library's collection dates only through October, 1999. However, the NRC continues to add several hundred new documents to ADAMS daily.

arXiv e-Print ArchiveStarted in August 1991, arXiv.org (formerly xxx.lanl.gov) is an archive and distribution server for research articles in physics, mathematics, computer science, nonlinear sciences, quantitative biology and statistics. arXiv is maintained and operated by the Cornell University Library with guidance from the arXiv Scientific Advisory Board and the arXiv Sustainability Advisory Group, and with the help of numerous subject moderators. Maine Music BoxThe University of Maine's Fogler Library in partnership with the Bagaduce Music Lending Library and the Bangor Public Library has launched the Maine Music Box. The Maine Music Box contains digitized images of five collections of manuscript scores and sheet music. Most of the collections are from the Bagaduce Music Lending Library in Blue Hill, Maine. A total of 22,641 titles will be accessible when the digitization and cataloging of the pilot project is complete. Selected scores will have an associated computer generated sound file. Other scores, based on faculty request, may have associated “Scorch” files. Scorch software creates a file that allows one to listen while following a cursor through the score; the viewer may also manipulate key and instrumentation. The database currently has 22,641 titles with 600 MIDI files and 100 Scorch files.

The Library also maintains a sizable law collection. It includes general legal materials, with a specialty in government administration, as well as materials specifically related to transportation law.

Statistical Abstract of the United StatesThe U.S. Census Bureau terminated the collection of data for the Statistical Compendia program (including the Statistical Abstract of the U.S. and its supplemental products, the State and Metropolitan Area Data Book and the County and City Data Book) effective October 1, 2011.
